Why does everyone that bashes Murphy feel the need to qualify it with he seems like a good kid. Does it make you feel better about undercutting him? Just call it what it is - he sucked. Played 20 mins and managed 2 pts 3 rbs and 4 turnovers. Good kid or not that aint a good day.

Because I like to find some positive and not just bash a player, especially an amateur player. I do think his work ethic and attitude does matter to GL or he would have given up on him a long time ago. I remember getting on this site a few years ago and somebody referred to Myles Walker as garbage. I thought that was out of bounds and decided I would not post in that way.

Interesting. I don’t know if that was me that said that about Walker or not - I sure hope it wasn’t as he ended up being a key cog in our MVC tournament Championship run, then again I’ve said a lot over the years so it could have been.

“I’m sure he’s a good kid but...” isn’t really finding the positive in him. I mean I think after 4 years here he’s pretty much established himself as a hardworking, keep his head down and play, good kid mantra definitely always has applied to him.

I’m just not sure he needs any more qualifiers at this point. It’s like if a college professor says to a former good student - you’ve come a long way. What the hell is that supposed to mean? I made what B’s in your classes and now I came a long way. Seems backhanded. That’s all - just an observation. I’m sure I’ve done the same thing myself at some point.

It’s been said numerous times but I just want to reiterate how mind-numbingly bad Murphy’s hands are. Get him some wide receiver gloves or stop putting WD-40 on them before the game please.

I don’t have any idea who made the Myles comment. He did finish strong his senior year.

Yeah I mean for sure, great point!

Maybe Murphy, Kessinger and Rickman deserve a little more credit than we are giving them for the work they did on that side of the ball. Those guys all pretty much canceled each other out stat wise with Kessinger putting together a pretty good box. Thought he finished pretty well and was pretty aggressive - one of his best games in fact. Carry over? Please carry over. We desperatly need another option other than Scott, Barnes and Davis.

Looking back it seems that BK set the early defensive tone when he took that charge.

BK's a "Junk Yard Dawg" close to the basket...he needs to hang in close vicinity more frequently, thus capitalizing from the bounty that's available!

I wouldn't crown him as a "junk yard anything" to this point in his career. He certainly has plenty of time left in his career to establish himself. No better time to start than last night and the opening game of MVC play. I've far from given up on him but he's also had plenty of opportunity to prove himself and about the only thing he's proven to be is inconsistent.

I've been pretty hard on Hughes this season but slowly but surely he's winning me over. He shows some freaking emotion and he defintaly takes thing personal. I think he still has a lot of room for improvement but I don't really need to dwell on that right now. He hit a few shots last night and you could tell he was emotionally invested - as a fan I enjoy that. You couple that we playing hard and being fundamentally sound and I can live with some of his shortcomings.

I expect him to model JEROME WILLIAM'S JYD "mentality" if he expects to be successful @ ISU...
I guarantee that he'll some some "attitude" in Abnormal, IL Sunday @ 4:00. He's gotta learn to play like this, ad GL has to help it along by instituting the proper "cues," not locking him up in the Dawg house for 10 min.
