Since the Bahamas we have started to play less bad basketball. Now if we can cleanup fouls and turnovers we will be in good shape.

Yes… It’s early and I’m questioning my own expectations at this point. Graves and staff deserve a ton of credit they are getting a lot out of different players on a given night and guys seem to be buying in.

it was 7 on 5 most of the night - Graves and take away and honest moment or two the team was very composed in the face on that adversity. They also hit really big shots down the stretch in the last 6 mins of the game.

That’s a game to build on - this is a physical team that defends the ball well and we’ve struggled with that immensely. 14 turnovers not great but vs this team I’d live with it. They shot 17 more free throws and we had 10 more fouls against us called in the game. Lost the the turnover and rebounding battle and still won. You have to be nothing but thrilled with the outcome - that’s an all effort win the box score doesn’t tell the story.

Two other plays that stood out were when Walker shot the three he made with confidence and knocked it down. Then LeGree did the same thing late. Got to love the freshman stepping up in big moments. LeGree’s hustle also stood out on the ball he saved going out bounds. Didn’t see Merritt’s minutes but they looked good in the box score.

Missed the first half and parts of the second half. Watched the end of the game from the ferris wheel at Union Station in St. Louis. Took the kids to the Polar Express.

You’ve just added “watch ISU basketball on my iPhone on the ferris wheel at Union Station in St. Louis” to my bucket list.

I’ve ridden that at night at Arch Madness. I occasionally have a dream where I’m on it again.

That was a nice win fellas!! Everyone that played contributed. Not bad without our starting center and another player in street clothes. Developing some nice depth. Future certainly looks better than a few games ago!!

I went through looking up stats and JD may work his way to front runner for 6th man of the year. His only competition is Lindsey of Murray state and Schmidt of Valpo. We was skeptical on JD at the beginning but he has really started to pick it up. The criticism was deserved at the time but I also want to give him his flowers for stepping up. And that goes for all the guys. Keep getting better.

I went back and watched the last 5 minutes of the game. Our guys were poised. Also remember when we questioned leadership? Well in the timeout with 12 seconds left and it 80-77 this what happened in that timeout. Graves was talking to everyone, Teel was vocal, Summers was vocal, Harding was talking to JD and Gray was telling Daugtry to breathe. That’s some good leadership showing. Just wanted to point that out. We need that every game.

When the opponent isn’t overly tall/big at the 4/5 I’m starting him and playing him the bulk of the minutes over Vorst/Harding.

He was like 7 for 8 from the field in the second half by my count several of his finishes were in traffic or through contact.

I just don’t get how you can catch that ball on the pick and roll with under 2 minutes to go and dunk it. But in the first half you get a beautiful transition pass from Legree and you decide to try and lay it off the glsss but you blow the layup

Definitely. Daughtry has always been a good defensive rebounder, so if he can show the ability to guard other smaller post players (Bonsu gave him a helluva test last night) then he should absolutely get the bulk of the minutes at the 5.

His pick and roll game with Teel is a huge weapon. We have to lean on that while it’s working.

Really think Graves is a good "Xs and Os" coach. He is doing a good job of getting guys in position and putting them in successful positions. Daughtry NOT running a high post hub and running a Pick N Roll from that position is a good indication of that. He is learning too, and I think he is still figuring out late game management, subbing, line-ups, etc. but overall his adjustments and going to player strengths has been pretty darn good. To be 6-4 at this point is a nice surprise after the first game. There are a lot of winnable MVC games this season, just gotta pull them out like last night and we will have a campaign we can be proud of at the end of it

I couldn’t watch game yesterday so re-watching now. Man I’ve never watched a player where I am so unsure if they will make a layup as Jaden Daughtry. It’s insane. Sounds like his second half is much. Can’t get worse
