I would expect that we will continue our improvement if the defense can stiffen up. We have lots of playmakers on offense, and we need to take advantage of Fouch while we have him. Bell gives us the breakaway speed to open things up for us as well.

Seven wins would be good, nine would be outstanding. A trip to the playoffs would continue our improvement.

I would also like to see an average of nearly 10,000 fans at each game.

I think 7-9 is the most reasonable. As I keep saying, we have a lot of road games to start the year. Have to play well on the road and get off to a good start.

I'm being optimistic and going for 8. This year we have to beat either SIU or UNI; that would be another sign that progress continues.

I see riding on the defensive and offensive fronts. Offense has t be able to run the ball...Defense has to make people think twice about ramming it down our throat.

I voted 7-9, but feel 6-8 to be more realistic. It will be good to feel like the favorite going into several games. We will need to grow from last year's successes to keep momentum going in our direction. Playing the role of the hunted instead of the hunter will be something I hope this team thrives on.

I can't guess a record but I know this is a very good football team....there is loads of talent on both sides of the balll....what I am still proud of is how ISU football bounced back from what is was.....I can't guess a record but I do know that whoever steps on the field verses these sycamores will be in a dogfight for sure....they must remain humble and set the standards high and not be satisfied with a winning record but national championships....the only thing that could knock this team is that I hope they don't fail to strive for greatness.....Good is the enemy of GREAT....

I think we will be able to tell a lot agains WKU this year. I think Penn St may be a bit much for us and we should handle Butler, but a good showing down in Bowling Green can give us a lot of confidence and momentum. I personally think we can win down there.

WKU is the perfect game for us early in the year because I don't think they are so good that we can't beat them but I think if we need a wake up call early on for some reason....wku can do that.....

You guys have alot to look forward to...I'll use NDSU as an example 2009 3-8 record, 2010 9-5 with 2 playoff wins

all it takes the team to click, like our team did last year. If they played the entire year the way they played the 2 playoff games they would have been brutal.

Good luck in the fall

Need to be healthy after penn state!!!

This earns a lot of revenue for the school...but, the team really needs to be careful not to have a season ending injury occur to several players. At this point, there is not a lot of depth...as many of you mentioned happened last year.

Still need to come out and be very aggressive against Penn State, but, I really believe that this will still be a building year. The next 2-3 years will be and should be very fruitfull for the Sycamores.

With this years recruiting class and couple more underneath the belt...could put us in the drivers seat for 2012...2013...possibly back to back undefeated seasons...and potential wins over two Big 10 teams. That will put us in a position for a FCS National Championship!!!

I agree about the injuries and not counting on this to be the season we win a conference championship, but we need to take advantage of the firepower we have with Fouch and some of these transfer receivers this season. I think we can have a big year - make the playoffs, but it's going to take exceptional play from start to finish. I think we're starting to see the depth, but we need to avoid the injury bug, especially at linebacker. It might be one of our deepest positions, but each of the last two seasons we've seen several players go down to injury there.

Good self estem is important. So ISU beats 4 D-I teams last year and has some nice recruits and we are predicting multiple undefeated seasons in the near term? Seems like that might be a good way to set yourself up for a big let down.

A new masthead and football moved to the top of the page--nice! I feel the season's success will be deternined in what they do in the first 3 games. If they can be respectable at Penn State, then win the next 2 games, that should give them the confidence to compete at a high level in conference. I would love to see the Seniors get the wins that have eluded them (UNI, SIU, and NDSU). All of the conference games are going to be dogfights. With Barr gone at WIU and Dieker gone at SIU, the defense will really need to step up against the run in those games, as well as against UNI and NDSU, which abused the defense with big rushing games.

Predictions for the 2011 MVFC Season!!

What are your guys' predictions for the 2011 MVFC season?

Standings? POY? COY?

I'm not sure if I voted 4-6 or not, I am thinking that I did. 6 wins puts them what 1 game over .500? I don't think this team is much better than a .500 football team right now. Is this team good enough to go on the road and win at some of the tough places necessary for them to win more than 6 games? I don't believe that we are yet... Here is how I see it playing out:

Penn State (L) I will be at this game - looking forward to the trip
Butler (W)
WKU (L)
Youngstwon State - who interestingly enough opened 2010 vs. Penn State and then Butler (W)
South Dakota State (L)
Northern Iowa (L)
Western Illinois (W)
Illinois State (W)
North Dakota State (W)
Missouri State (L)
Southern Illinois (W)

That's 6 wins and 5 losses, tell me how it works out different than this? Would you as a fan be disappointed with a 6 win season? To me it looks like a pretty difficult schedule and asking for much more than 6 wins is asking this team to play really well all season. I think this team improves as the season goes on and finishes the season with 4 of 5 wins - I suppose it's possible that we could steal the game at Missouri State and get 7 wins.

When we play Youngstown State, we have a shot at being 2-1. This team has a great shot to win the MVFC and maybe more. Are we going to redshirt Coy Glass so we can have him as our starter next year, or are we going to possibly find another transfer QB?
