With all due respect to West, his career path since leaving ISU really does reveal just how awful of a hire that was by Indiana State.

He was no doubt the winner of my "most unintelligent person in a position of authority in sports award."
Did one of my first ever interviews after I had already been recruited while in hs by west his major quote About the team was "When you are doing yo thang you just be doing yo thang."

One thing about Coach West that I heard BEFORE he was selected as ISU's coach. A friend connected with Toledo had told me that this guy was not liked at all by players (or coaches) and that he was going to be fired AND SOON! Then we hired him. That statement always sticks in my mind when I think of him. He might be a a good father and husband but as a coach.....?

I subcontracted with a company out of Toledo when West was hired. Most stated that they were glad to see West leaving Toledo and were astounded at the press release following his ISU hiring, wondering if it was the same guy. Boy does the news media/SID really know how to stretch reality on occasion.
 
Well consider this, is it possible that Garden City CC is positioning it's self for a name change???

I'm thinking Weed City Community College - did I try to hard? As was mentioned, Memorial Stadium came about as close to vacant as a football stadium can come.

Folks at Penn State kept asking about Indiana State, "so what about Indiana State" and I would start the conversation about like this (sad but true).

- This program was the worst college football program in the country 4 years ago, we are even lucky to still have a program. We've got a great President, a great AD and a great football coach - they are all new to Indiana State and basically saved the program. 3 years ago I wouldn't have gone to a home game let alone drive 9 hours to Penn State to watch ISU Football - I am here and the program has done a total 180.
 
I remember the Toledo head coach giving West glowing accolades about what an asset he was to their program and how thrilled he was for West to get the opportunity to be head coach.
This was all BULLSHIT and a nice way of saying, I don't have to fire this turkey nor pay anything on his contract.

Also to West's credit he was the patsy and fall guy in an attempt to kill the program. I'm less concerned with him than say any dormant old anti sports/football guard around the university. Although important one's are gone many others remain....even if they are quiet for now.
 
If there are those that still linger then they should be exposed. They shouldn't be allowed to hide in the shadows and undermine the athletic programs, specifically football.
 
Just think of all the anti football comments we heard even up until last season. Full change takes time and I'm thrilled we're moving as fast as we are!

There was a serious bandwagon jump last year...not calling us bad fans, Just calling it what it looked like.
