Fudōtokuna: $chertz to $LU

WANTED: Passionate Sycamore Fanatics. That You?

Register NOW to join our community of die-hard Sycamore fans.

While we are all diehards, fact is casuals vastly outnumber diehards for any team.

Future of the program might depend on how willing the Facebook group is to fund NIL. SycamorePride might need to make a concerted effort to blitz the Facebook group for NIL fundraising.
Not our monkey not our circus over there.

I think he should announce it soon. I am not bitter. I know I wouldn't turn down $12 million.
Well ISU could get him somewhere around 8-10 over that range of time if you believe what most people "in the know" are hearing..So he'd really be turning down 4ish...That's still a lot of money..But consider he's probably got 3-4X the buyout on that deal compared to any one he would sign here?? I would argue he might be costing himself money down the road with this move...This group is ready made for a top 20-25 team next season.. You don't think he'd wouldn't be at the top of the list for IU or Villanova next year if that happens?? With the move to STL not only are you breaking up part of the group, but you also make yourself less attractive to other schools when that buyout is as high as it probably will be there..

I'm referring to the die-hards. The life-bloods of the university, the people that bleed blue. The ones that will go to bat for Indiana State for Terre Haute for everything the program/school stands for regardless of circumstance. The fans that are showing up and cheering just as hard for a 1-33 season as a 33-1 season. Trust me, we are out there. I'm guessing by your replies on ole' sycamorepride you aren't one of those. I stand with the @SycamoreStateofMind and @Jason Svoboda of the world. Regardless of what happens we are Sycamores. I don't give 2 shits about any other program in this country
Been a full time fan since 2010 when i actually could buy tickets myself and attend games since I was in high school activities during those years

Will you idiots please stop saying he’s gone or it’s a done deal! As of right now he’s still here and I feel isn’t going anywhere at the moment! Why do you keep wanting to push him out I’ve never seen so many “fans” in my life push a coach out like you all are talking about for no reason! So stop being stupid and acting like he’s gone and his name is going to be out there because he’s a hot ticket right now and we got him so please let’s try and keep it that way!!
Is this just a statement that you decided to make or is this a thread? This isn’t Twitter… The post literally has no punctuation - what am I supposed to do with this?

You’re concerned what players would be going with him?! This is a new concern because you state it as if this is just now a concern.

If he leaves he’s blowing the entire program up - I would expect every starter to hit the portal. So your concern is valid. He built the program up and he tore it down. Larry, Swope, Conwell, Kent and Avila all gone. Blame JS and the NCAA. I wouldn’t expect them all to go with him either. Conwell ain’t going to SLU - sorry he’s not. Larry probably not either. All will hit the portal - Now that we cleared that up!
One thing he will not miss at isu are arrogant people like you

I stand steadfast in this. I am not a Wake Forest fan or supporter. I am not a Tennessee fan or supporter. I am not a Saint Louis fan or supporter. I am an Indiana State alum, fan and supporter. If you turn your back on me, I turn my back on you. You know the drill.

We all were here before you.

We'll be here long after you're gone.
I wont be bitter, Ill probably follow what he does slightly less than what I did when Miles left (out of nowhere imo) for Georgia State. Ill look at scores and see how his rebuild goes and wonder how long he will be there. I even looked to see where GL went and how that worked out. I dont think I've ever cared how any college basketball team did that wasnt an underdog in the NCAA tournament. Id hate to see many of our players go with him but if they dont want to be here then I wont care much more than seeing where they end up and maybe an occasional stat check like I did with Laravia and Key. I didnt even remember Williams played here until someone pointed it out to me. I wish everyone well and will easily move on. Id point out to all the bandwagoneers that we didnt break 4,500 fans until the team was 13-3 with losses to 3 NCAA tournament teams. For anyone thinking the administration hasnt done anything, what do you think they do all day. Do you think they wake up today and are like "what the fuck? He might leave?" Give me a break. Anyone good is always looking at potential changes. You can lose a great coach for way more reasons than them leaving. crazy shit happens all the time. On to baseball.

What an emotional roller coaster. Last night was an absolute heartbreaker. The past 3 games have been an awesome experience to witness in person, and the team has been a blast to watch all year. It was pretty cool to essentially have the entire college basketball world watching our Sycamores last night albeit with a different outcome than we all wanted.

The loss of Schertz hurts. Especially to a program like SLU. Had he gone to a reputable program, I could live with that. Money aside, it still boggles my mind why someone would leave our program now, given the success and support it’s currently receiving. If SLU is where he intends to hang his hat, fine, however I don’t see that being the case. That move just doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. Maybe it is all about the money at the end of the day.

I am so proud of our alumni, fans, and particularly the Terre Haute community for rallying around this program. I never thought it would be possible to sell out an arena as many times as we did this season. It is proof that you can win here and build a successful program.

I really hope the next administration comprehends how important athletics are to the university. I pray that the Schertz departure doesn’t mean a return to the status quo mediocrity we’ve witnessed for decades. We’ve got to capitalize on this momentum and continue to fund and support our successful athletic programs moving forward, particularly basketball, baseball, track & field, and cross country. I think it’s time the university had realistic discussion about moving forward without a football program.

Yep. That website/platform/process needs to be beefed up tremendously. Hell get some marketing students to work with it and it can be their class grade — it’s not rocket science. After all, we are a university with resources

I will personally be in a meeting on Tuesday about this... Help is on the way. They are working to improve this with a couple people and businesses locally.

"Our basketball program"

Does anyone else find his wording very interesting? Or just completely tone deaf?

You can't call it "OUR" if you shit on us and leave in the next 24/48 hours for SLU - like it's no longer OUR at that point. So either it's cryptic like this entire thing has been and you are staying or you just talk too damn much and say a lot of shit that is mind boggling.

This is the sort of stuff that has me spun out... Not mad. Not angry. Not anything like that - just completely spun out.

Not that it means much, but coach is still in Indy right now and my son’s teacher just took a picture with him and he has an ISU 1/4 zip on. I mean you’re wearing that around and announcing another team today?

Nope. Word choice and details matter.

This is a complete and total lack of emotional intelligence.

I appreciate that. We are all in this together. You just have a doom and gloom outlook most of the time. Us mid-majors have a tough hill to climb as it is and we have PLENTY of outside noise telling us we aren't good enough. We really need to change the culture that we are good enough, we do belong, etc. It starts with people like us spreading the word. Go Sycamores!

I going with spewing hypocritical bullshit trying to keep the heat off his ass till he can gather his things and get out of town.

It was posted two weeks ago on the SLU chatboard that SLU hired a realtor to assist Schertz with the move. could be BS, but where there is smoke there is fire.
