Thanks, but in the last video HCMG mentioned they were still missing 5 players from the summer session...

Oh, you mean in practices. Could have been a Freudian slip referring to roster spots but in watching the video, the only guys I don't believe I've seen are Bruno and Bernard. Add in the rumored foreign big and that's 3. Unless they have more like the foreign big in the tuck and have been able to keep it quiet.

I think I heard from a rotary friend that Graves had mentioned that there would be 5 International players. Bruno, Bernard, Harding and that would mean 2 others awaiting clearance. This is second hand info but that was a recent event.

That doesn't align with the video.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but that isn't Graves' style. I bet these guys who are out of shape are seeing it and feeling it by teammates who are beating them and they will work hard to get back into shape. Ideally, you'd like them to be in better shape coming in.....but you can't change that now. Now you motivate and push them to get there.
He most likely was talking about the new players who haven't played in this system before. Ideally yes you want everyone to be in shape but I don't expect everyone (especially newcomers) to be in shape first summer session. Now by the 2nd summer session to fall practice I definitely expect everyone to be in shape.

When have we ever bulked up one of our big men?

We aren't talking about the same thing. You're talking in terms of adding muscle or losing weight. But to answer your question our last big men to bullk up were probably Justin Gant/Jake Kitchell. Then our last big to drop a lot of weight probably was Brandon Murphy.

Looks like.he started early last season and then didn't play at all the 2nd half of the season. Anyone have any info on this?

Best I can find is just that he was injured. Not sure to what extent. It looks like he battled injuries throughout his freshman year, too, and he came into their program injured. All I can say is I hope he's healthy and can remain healthy. That definitely hasn't been the case so far, though.

His stats are nothing to write home about, but if he's never been fully healthy that could be a big part of it. The main things that stick out is he appears to be a traditional big (doesn't shoot the three but finishes at the rim at a high percentage) and he can't seem to defend without fouling (averaging around 9 fouls per 40 minutes across both seasons at CMU).

None of that excites me. Hoping for the best……

We needed this size (I like that he's young still) to defend the other 7 footers in the league. He just needs to be able to do DHO's, set screens and roll, protect the rim and rebound. If he does provide any offense that's only a plus.

In the highlight video he posted to his twitter/x after declaring for the portal, most of his effective scoring came from PnR action and primarily rolling to the rim. I'll be interested in seeing how good his hands are in live action because...well...let's just say that's not his brother's strength. You can't be a rim runner with stone hands.

He's very long and should be able to protect the rim, too.

This all depends on his health, obviously.
