Only one thing I hate about all this.....Goodbye Trent....you deserve whatever it is you are working towards..

Hope that's not ture. At least not yet, but he's given us a great foundation. We're no longer a grave yard for potential football coaches.

You had to bring it up didn't you............. You just had 2? Not that it's not a fair point, just that we had a great amount of positivity going here and you had to bring it up didn't you?

I think that the Indiana State Foundation hired a guy named Nate Green (might have heard of him) to attempt to raise funds to keep first class guys like Trent and Lansing around. They deserve a pay-increase (obviously) and if we can offer a competitive salary then he might be more enticed to stay. Granted we can't pony up what the big boys will probably offer him - the point is, can't we just enjoy this while it's going on without suggesting he's gone at first opportunity?

I sure hope Miles stays around a minimum of 2 more years, at least to stay thru Bell's career. Imagine how much better ISU will be if Miles sticks it out a couple more years?

Again, a great article and it'll help ISU in the long run!

What makes you think he's working for something other than what he has now at State?

I can't remember the last head football coach we lost to a bigger program?
Raetz? nope, McGuire? Jamieson? Nope that was the pros...

Harp? Huntsman? Nope Jones? Marks??

Read that and tell me it doesn't put a tear in your eye! Wow. Now - forward this to everyone in your email address book...post it on your Facebook...Tweet it!!! EVERYONE should read this..especially the haters! Go State!!!!

I have done this.....sent the link with a personal note to my e-mail contacts.

You never know, but remember, he just signed a 5 year extension and told all of this seasons Freshmen recruits he'd be here through the contract. He will obviously be approached, and will have to do what's right for his family, but I think he likes what's happening here.

I still think Coach Miles is here for the long run. This isn't a "job" to him, it's a labor of love. We may have our guy for a good long time!

Didn't know he told the recruits that!

Didn't mean to kill the vibe. Guess I'm speaking out of fear but at the same time these things happen in college football and the truth is this. Our coaches in the past have stayed in the past like raetz and all of them but none of them turned the program around from where it was to where it is like Trent has done. And there is a higher demand for black college coaches. It is true. We don't know what will happen. Trent will be offered big time money in the future May be a year or two away but he will. People keep saying money doesn't mean anything to him because he took a paycut to come here which is true but he did that because he loves ISU and wanted to help and now he can put "head coach" on his resume. And I don't care who you are money does mean something. I guess I'm just saying. I hope he stays for the rest of his coaching career. But if he leaves soon I'll be thankful for his help and understand.

Fair enough, let's flip this around and say if your correct and he does get a big time coaching jobs - million dollar plus contract. Maybe that was his plan all along - maybe he wants to get that contract and donate it back to Indiana State (at some point down the road once he's done coaching)... Ever think of that? Maybe he wants to do it in memory of his dad - put his dads name on the outside of the stadium? Maybe I am thinking wayyyy outside the box here, but if Trent ever does leave for bigger and better things I would gladly spend his money for him. Just saying - since your brought it up and all...

haha...well if he leaves we know his heart is here...his father and mother are from here and this is where he played. I just think he had more than one plan and it was a good one. Go back home build the program that I love before it crashes and see it prosper and get it rolling making it quality. Pass the baton to a quality guy and get a head coaching job making lots of money......In the end everybody wins...our program is saved and he gets paid million or doing what he loves....

Anyone know...

if Coach Miles had other Head Coaching offers before he took our job?

He was an ass't for 21 years before he became our head coach...

Go to the article and read the comments afterwards. Great stuff, and will make your chest swell with pride!!!
