That 5-7 year line is even weirder because it's not like Lansing is old. If he were employed by ISU for the next 7 years, he would be 60 years old at the end of the contract. (I wouldn't advocate for that, I'm just making the point.)

I'm also not sure the report that ISU offered a one-year extension has been verified. I believe Greg Semmler tweeted it out, but no one has corroborated the report.
If Rick reports it, it is generally directly from ISU.

I got the impression—and I may have misinterpreted it—that Clinkscales was concerned that Lansing just wanted to stick around until the sophomores graduated.

That is what I always figured as well. I think Clinks was worried Lansing would go all in for 2022 and 2023, and then leave with really no recruiting in place for the After Tre/JL years.

Well the Tre and LaRavia years are over two years early now. Nice job Clink! Another fail on his part. We will likely continue to be a loser program as long as him and Meemaw are running the show.

Its for sure on Clink but I really think a lot of people are underestimating how much Curtis and upper admin did not want Greg renewed or extended after that article in the athletic where he said what he really felt. Nothing wrong with what he said either. Definetly on Clinkscales but he's also falling on a sword for someone who is so out of touch with college sports that she should not be here but at here old d2 school

I predict bottom of the conference next year and at least twice as many losses as wins. Wow, I hope I'm wrong. Sadly, this is one in a long series of horrible moves with regards to ISU basketball. It will take years to recover from this idiocy.

We are definitely solidly in the #10 spot until further notice. Next coach has their work cut out for them
There is still a lot to happen in the coming days/weeks/months regarding our basketball team in the sense that it's going to be essentially a total rebuild + PR damage control for the foreseeable future. But the optimist in me thinks that maybe just maybe with the open transfer policy this year we won't be a COMPLETE disaster next year, just maybe a bad team hopefully. A man can dream

Also I saw this posted on MVCfans: Missouri States Dana Ford is one of 25 finalist for 2 separate National Coaching Awards. The first is the "Skip Prosser Man of the Year " award which is awarded for both success on the court along with exemplary involvement in the community. Greg Lansing is also among the 25 finalist for this award.

Funniest post I have ever read. Thanks for making my day.

Yep. Here’s the link. So to sum up: Our coach had back-to-back winning seasons and is a finalist for the Skip Prosser Award. But Clink and Curtis think they can do better and see zero issues with the men’s bball budget as is. Now our best players are entering the transfer portal. Someone find me that “This Is Fine” meme.

Good luck, transfer portal, Barnes, Jake, Williams, and one other sycamore, almost 1/3rd of team will be gone, and Tyree, probably going to Europe.
Its sad next year when they open the gates for the new Hulman Center, we won't have to practice social distancing, the crowds will stink , and the team will be a bigger stinker.
I hope they can get someone who is exciting, have a hunch by next week their will be an announcement. We might as well for now, next year book our cellar position in the conference.

The only way I would be even just a little bit happy about all this disaster is if they gave the job to Odum. But I wouldn't want to wish that on him. He's too nice of a guy.

not to mention he's wholly unqualified at this time

He may need some more time but he is 30, which is the same age Sean Mcvay became the coach of the Rams.

So nothing will change?

I like Odum but that would be a disaster!
