[March 18, 2023] Indiana State (22-12) vs USC Upstate (16-15)

WANTED: Passionate Sycamore Fanatics. That You?

Register NOW to join our community of die-hard Sycamore fans.

I could not believe the crowd. We got there at 1030 and I was like, wow wasn’t expecting this. James asked me during the game why I was nervous and it’s because I didn’t want our fans to be disappointed again. I believe those 3 games in St. Louis showed people the potential of the program moving forward.

Who is James?

That’s Mr. @meistro to you sir!

As much as I’m adamantly against this tournament… I’m not sure why no one has made this point to me yet but it might be the only thing that makes sense to me. Everyone has been saying “if the boys want to keep playing let them play”… that’s the weakest shit I’ve ever heard.

But you know what… If the community - the Sycamore community at-large is excited about this and wants to keep playing - will come to a viewing party by the hundreds then SSOM what’s your problem with it?!?! Everyone else seems to be in support of it - maybe you should to. Now that would have been compelling and hard to argue against.

We did the EPIC putt today and gave away 3 $100 gift cards to Ricks Garage. Guy I work with asks me yesterday you think I should go early and get us a table?? “Ummm negative we will be fine” 🤣🤣 Wrong.

6) It gives the program more stickiness to the fan base. For some, this may be the only sport they follow or support. So to give them extra time to follow is a good thing. It can potentially lead to more financial support for the program.

I love that you did this… Because #7 of your post is the only point I refuted. So yeah. I guess you feel vindicated by this?? I mean it took you to the 6th bullet point of your presentation to finally come up with the only valid reason why CBI makes sense 🤣🤣💀 that’s hilarious.

It could be because we’ve been hearing your opinion about not playing in this tournament for two weeks and no one feels the need to try and justify it any longer.

Or it could be because the tournament has started, the first game has been played and whether we should or should not is now irrelevant.

Probably both… Last time I checked this was an opinion site, no? I’m not trying to throw shade on anyone directly enjoying the post season - I was attempting to be somewhat positive. Either way it’s viewed in the same light. That’s fine. I’m probably going to keep posting when I feel like it though. I don’t post for emojis.

It’s not irrelevant. Because we will have the same discussion next time we find ourselves in this situation. It’s relevant every time you’re in it - for as long as you’re in it. Something isn’t irrelevant just because you declare it to be such.

It’s always been irrelevant. Because no one posting on this site has any input in the actual decision to play.

Right right. But no one has any input in our non-conference schedule but we talk about it. No one has any input on who we recruit but we talk about it. No one has any input on why we keep our football program but we talk about it.

So everything is irrelevant by that logic?! Okay I got it. We just out here wasting our time it’s all irrelevant. Look - I was attempting to be positive. The community supports this team and clearly wants us to be playing. If that makes me wrong or in the minority on this one then I’m all about it. I tried to stay out of the pre game and live game portion of this thread because I didn’t have anything productive/positive to add to the conversation and didn’t want to create the same back-and-forth some of us have been having. And when I finally did post I wasn’t trying to throw shade on anyone having a good time and enjoying this. I thought it was a rather unassuming and positive take on what was a good day to be a Sycamore.

Slight difference between discussing the theoretical and/or events to come (such as future schedules) and bringing up topics that are settled.

When you make the comment about how (paraphrasing) a certain argument would have been better to make to convince you that ISU should have played in this tournament or that if the players want to play that is a weak argument for playing seems like rehashing an argument that is settled by the fact that the team is there and the tournament has already started.

Furthermore your post as one argument would have been better to make (community support) to convince you of the merits of the tourney vs another that “the players want to play” came across as people on the board failed to convince you. I doubt any were trying.

None of this may have been your point, and there is just as strong of odds that I read too much into it. If that is the case than I apologize.

Not really the case but still no need to apologize. We good here. I was trying to be sincere while still standing behind my original point. No big deal though I follow your logic completely.

We all have input on whether we have football or not. If supposed Sycamore fans would stop bashing the program and support it we would probably have a quality program. Butts in the seats helps the team win and winning along with butts in the seats helps recruiting. Now back to our regular scheduled programming.
