My Prediction:

WIU 10

ISU 49

ISU offense comes out on fire and the defense continues to play with heart and desire and we win this game with our bench guys playing the entire 4th quarter.

So, for our remaining schedule, here's what I'm thinking:
10/15 - at Indiana State - probably a close game. ISU went into Cedar Falls and played a very close game with UNI until their RB, Bell, was injured. If we get lucky and Bell is out for this game, we should win this by a TD or so. If Bell is playing, it'll take a near-perfect game on our part, as well as probably a mistake or two on their part for us to win it. I think that this is going to be one of those games that really determines where we are in the conference this season. A win, and we're near the top of the pack, a loss, and we're somewhere in the middle, probably around .500 in the conference.

Call me nuts or a homer here if you care to but I really don't see how anyone in their right mind sees this as a game where WIU is going to run away with it (Ala win big comment by WIU fans) I don't care if we have Bell or not, we should win this game.

I think ISU has a good football team. However I don't understand why ISU is ranked.

ISU has no signature wins. None of ISU's wins are against teams with winning records. Actually if ISU beats WIU this Saturday that will be ISU's best win. That aint saying much.

So beating an fbs team and a ranked Youngstown state doesn't count as signature currently...that's nonsense

You have every right to be proud of beating an "FBS" opponent. WKU is an absolutely awful football team though. If you want YSU to count as a signature win OK. YSU has 2 wins, one against the actual statistical worst team in all of D-1 football (Valpo) and a 7 point win at home against ILL State.

This is how Jeff Sagarin breaks it down.

And sagarin ratings are the end all be all of everything? Wku is bad, I know that but to say that Indiana state doesn't deserve to be ranked is just a bad thought. Compare isu and wius common opponent, number two uni. Appreciate you coming by though

According to Sagarin we should have lost by 26 to Northern Iowa last week. If Sagarin is your primary source you might consider adding another source. This doesn't tend to be all that great of a predictor of matchups in my opinion.

Valley Dweller is just trying to stir things up before our homecoming, seriously, take what he says worth a grain of salt, if you guys get all worked up over what he says then that's your own fault.

I am confident ISU will take care of business on the field Saturday and we'll see a homecoming win VERY similar to last years' homecoming THRASHING of Illinois State, anyone recall that win??

Or just ignore him completely.

Carter will play, great news!

Coach Miles said ISU DB Larry Carter(Shoulder injury) will play Saturday vs. Western Illinois.

Don't forget...

Updated to add our ranking. Woot, woot!

We have history on our side, we have NEVER lost to WIU in a Homecoming Game!

2009 W 17-14
1999 W 39-36 OT
1985 W 42-24
1972 W 41-7

We are also 48 - 36 - 2 in all homecoming games!

:sycamores:

even though we have never lost to wiu at homecoming they are always a respectable opponent...even when they are down...but for some reason I feel good about saturday....it will be a good game but I just dont' think WIU can pull this one off...They beat SIU handily and that is sort of scary but I just think a healthy sycamore team will overwhelm them at times...
