Schertz, Sycamores announce 2023-24 Indiana State men’s basketball schedule

WANTED: Passionate Sycamore Fanatics. That You?

The only acceptable losses on this schedule would be against Bama, Michigan State, and Toledo. If we lose to anyone else then we are not finishing in the top 4 of the MVC, unless the conference is complete trash this season.

indiana state lost to multiple bad teams and still had a pretty good conference season…it’s definitely possible. My guess is the conference metrics as a whole (all teams) will be better than the last few years. Only thing I question is whether valpo will be Evansville-level god awful. It’s definitely possible valpo is somewhere in that 340+ kenpom/net ranking. Would be nice to see the bottom valley teams not be as bad as they were last year.

With that being said, I’d guess 7-8 wins total. Not gonna pick games but I think we all want to see isu win at least one power conference game.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The 2023-24 Indiana State men's basketball schedule is complete as the Missouri Valley announced the 20-game conference slate on Friday morning.

Playing Murray and Evansville once. We get Evansville at home and Murray on the road.

I get the MVC is going to alternate who you only play once but giving up a game against eville is pretty stupid on the MVC part. Illinois State should ALWAYS play Bradley twice. UNI & drake should ALWAYS play twice. Southern and Murray should ALWAYS play twice. I don't like them messing with the rivalries

Am I seeing things or are we really only playing Evansville once (here thankfully)??? Maybe Evansville will be PO'd and we'll finally get that 22 game conference schedule I've been dreaming of. Can't believe the MVC isn't protecting rivalries.

Looks like the Racers are the other school we only play once (there unfortunately).

Uh oh, looks like you and I both jumped the gun 😆 . We only play the Jailbirds once (here) and the UNI Panthers once (there). Jailbirds are usually our best attended home game, so I'm glad we didn't lose that one. Some of our schedule on that tweet is hidden until you open it.

Yep, totally agree but my guess is some of the other schools would complain. You can easily get around that by creating "rivalry pairs" so it is known. Fun exercise and my guess is Missouri State and Southern may not like it since that is the only one that doesn't really "make sense" compared to the rest?

Belmont -- Murray State (Battle for the Barrell - Whiskey themed)
Bradley - Illinois State (Battle for ?)
Drake - Northern Iowa (Battle for Corn)
Evansville - Indiana State (Battle for US41)
UIC - Valpo (Battle for Chicagoland)
Missouri State - Southern Illinois

I wonder how many "protected rivalries" each school can have to make the schedule work. The Big Ten for football (not sure about other sports) was giving each school anywhere between 0-3 protected rivalries, but I'm not sure if that will change now that Oregon and Washington are coming along with USC and UCLA.

Math says two since that is the number of single games we've got. Obviously if we ever expand again, that goes down or you get forced with more single game pairs.

I still think the MVC grabs two more teams eventually so doing just one I think makes the most sense and priority could be given to whatever pairs have the longest series history unless said schools prefer someone else. I'd love for us to play them up and gift the conference a differentiation feel.

Living here in Vegas, I will listen to the UNLV games and there is zero "feel of importance" to their league games. Very corporate/business as usual save for the UNLV/Nevada matchup.

I don't think any product made in Belmont's is worthy of a Barrel Battle!

I know - Just wondering why anyone would drink jack daniels when there are VASTLY better options, be they bourbon, rye or single malt!

I can't recall what the brand was, but when we had province event, someone brought stuff from their local distilleries in the area that was pretty good.

I don't track nashville distilleries - regardless of what they produce.

Bourbon(s) is an early choice, though I have enjoyed Whistle Pig rye, that's a damn fine whiskey... and I've had some of Macallan's "teenage" products that are tasty

Has anyone bought tickets in the “ISU”
section for the Indy classic in December? Any Lower level also works.

Not much available on Ticketmaster so curious if calling ticket office would be better. Thanks!

I would assume their section tickets are bought by them and then they hand them out so they would appear as sold via TicketMaster. I'd definitely call.

When the article about tickets came out it listed the three sections for Indiana state and I got three tickets in one of the sections. I’m in section 12. Don’t remember if the other ISU sections were 11-13 or 12-14 or what. Just know that 12 was listed as one of them.
