Gross.Thursday is the start of football.
that is a cool idea to round up "retro final 4s" but I guess the answer to my questions is no, we haven't played Michigan State since 1979. Kind of crazy considering Michigan State vs. Indiana State is STILL the highest rated college basketball game of all-time
Seems like I struck a nerve calling them a "girly school".1. You are very weirdly hung up on the fact that this use to be an all-girls school. It's been 8 years now since they started allowing male students. Over that time they have continued to grow male sports and male enrollment. Why the F are you so hung up on the fact that this use to be an all girls school? The only thing more embarrassing than playing them is how hung up you are on the history of the school. No one cares other than you that they use to be a girls school - trust me. Weird
Counterpoint... While I disagree with you and think the majority of people in TH probably know by now that SMWC accepts both genders let's go ahead and assume for a second that you're right! I can assure you that no one that checks the box score or that's on the selection committee or fans of other schools will know or quite frankly care that SMWC was once a "girly" school - especially if you're right (you never are) and the community doesn't know! Watch this... Because if the community doesn't know it's safe to say that NO ONE ELSE KNOWS!
2. The upside is you get in work vs. someone other than ourselves - after months and months of beating on each other they now get to play someone else. Allows them to sort of get the cobwebs out and play in front of fans before you go on the road in front a ranked P5. We're not going to lose and it doesn't matter if it's close or not so you don't have to worry about it.
3. These two have absolutely nothing to do with one another - why you would make a correlation is bizarre at best.
4. We are acting like it by going on the road to play Alabama and Michigan State in the non-conference... When is the last time we had two pre-season top 25 teams on our schedule? I'll wait. You are very conveniently ignoring the fact that outside of SMWC we have put together a pretty solid non-conference schedule. You'd rather sit on here and debate this point than focus on the opportunity going on the road to a top 25 team presents.
5. Are you sure it's not going to be an Exhibition game? If it's not - I agree with you on this point it should be an exhibition game as should the other schools you listed. For instance, Illinois State opened last year with D3 Wooster College in an Exhibition game. I do agree that it doesn't make much sense to have it as a regular season game other than to pad the record...
But to your point above if it's going to take an MVC school 29 or 30 wins. In theory, if you go on the road and split with Michigan State and Alabama. Win the conference regular season title and have 28 wins - the SMWC win gets you to your 29 or 30 threshold I highly doubt that SMWC game is going to get much consideration from anyone at all - it will literally just blend in. If it doesn't, you just cross that bridge when you get their.
6. First of all - this point is redundant as you're just reiterating things you've already said... But this was profound stuff so it bares repeating: "It will lead to fast break dunks for a top tier SEC squad"... Such a hot take dude!! And another just bizarre mention of it having been a "girly" school 8 years ago. I've never seen someone be so triggered by the history of a school and how that impacts our schedule.
Counterpoint: They reached out to a handful of schools and were not able to schedule anyone else. So it was open with SMWC or open with Bama on the road. Given that he's going a lot of really new pieces maybe JS just wanted to let his guys get a run in vs. an opponent other than themselves. Maybe he had some underlying reason as to why he wanted to schedule them of which he owes us literally zero explanation as to why.
Still haven’t heard a reason NOT to.the point is BECAUSE they're transitioning - they shouldn't be considered a Div I school until the transition is COMPLETE.
they're ineligible for the NCAA until the transition is COMPLETE.
Still haven't heard a reason to play them
Seems like I struck a nerve calling them a "girly school".
#5) Yes I'm sure it's NOT an exhibition game. The regular season starts on November 6th. If we have an exhibition game it will likely be on November 1st.
Vegas, Vegas, Vegas.......Man...I was going to go to 1 road game this year. With a family move and another kid popping out I can only afford one road game this year. At first I was going to Bama, no question. Then they dropped Vegas on me and I was like "waaaaitt a minute" and instantly looked at my bank account. Now you're gonna drop Sparty on me? What a f-ing unbelievable schedule. Kudos to whoever is responsible.
I need some help in this debate. USI is the same size as ISU. Similar sized endowment. Just doubled their student athletic fee to help defray costs of D-1 competition. They got invited to a "C" post-season tournament last year just like ISU. They beat ISU last year. How are they somehow "beneath" ISU?
Strange reply. Did you forget to wipe after sitting on the toilet?Gross.
Still haven’t heard a reason NOT to.
Let's try this. in REALITY please explain the difference between USI now as YOU call them a transitioning program to USI in two years when YOU will call them a D-1 team? The way I read it the only difference is they can go to an NCAA tournament am I wrong?I'll type this slow enough for you to read, comprehend...
they're a TRANSITIONING program, play them then if there's interest -- can't imagine why there's interest
what do the trees GAIN by playing them?
Dude, you're posting about football in a basketball schedule thread. Have a great day!Strange reply. Did you forget to wipe after sitting on the toilet?
This is the most accurate post in the history of SycamorePride. And our (not my) president with her rumored FAFO attitude towards HCJS.

That's not true... My prediction that Cobie Barnes would not end up at a P5 school was the most accurate post in the history of Sycamore Pride as he now plays for the girls school across town. Which would make my post slightly more accurate.
Irrelevant point.I'll type this slow enough for you to read, comprehend...

Why do you call it a girl's school? That's not true... My prediction that Cobie Barnes would not end up at a P5 school was the most accurate post in the history of Sycamore Pride as he now plays for the girls school across town. Which would make my post slightly more accurate.
