gametime folks, lots of ISU players sick, could be an ugly game here. My only question is how long will it take ISU to score, let's hope not 10 and a half minutes again.

it's on TV too.

Turnovers and CARELESS play, when in the heck is ISU going to stop being so careless, and that sequence to end the half, instead of being down 2, they go down 8, UGLY, UGLY end to that half.

I have a feeling we're on our way to a blowout here.

32-24, Bradley leads at the half. We give up two threes in the last 20 seconds, the second after a bad drive by Reed gave them the ball back. Don't we have a play to run in that situation??? Oh well, I guess it doesn't matter if the players won't run it...

Hope that dagger didn't do us in...

1st Half

Not bad considering...

ISU's 13 TO's in the 1st half is fortunate...too many half-a--ed cross-court passes that had no ADVANTAGE or BENEFIT in mind. Why are these HABITS still occurring?

If we'd had a POINT GUARD, 75% of the above TO's would've never occurred, as most were fabricated from disorganized play. With Reed & Marshall, it's as if we've got two game plans evolving on separate sides of the court.

Our inside is so WEAK...Crawford & Leitnaker can be positioned within 3' of the hoop and a 6'5" opponet BEHIND them will get the rebound. Neither will help this program turn the corner. Half of our 1st half TO's were passes that ATTEMPTED to get the inside involved...futility at best considering their intended destination. Crawford gets a feed under the hoop - takes a 'friggin dribble instead of going STRAIGHT UP for the hoop - looses the ball - unreal. Richard gets a baseline feed 5' from the hoop. Instead of taking the shot, he dribbles in against two taller opponets and TRAVELS. Daaaaaa

And to think we'd only be down by 2 if Bradley hadn't sunk a couple 3's just before the half. :sycamores:

Coach Mac has got to practice TRANSITION this Summer. ISU is the WORST team around in transition off a TO and can't afford to continue to blow such opportunities.

We are Sooooooo bad, I can't even think of any more adjectives to describe how pathetic this team is, we're a turnover FACTORY out there, maybe the governement can bail this team out?? ANYTHING is better than what's on the floor right now! I mean 20+ turnovers is ridiculous and it happens EVERY game! You'd think after nearly 20 games they'd figure out how NOT to make careless passes, how to go UP with the ball when near the basket. I can't even watch the end bec. I know it's going to probably be a loss by 20+ points again.

GOD help this team at Creighton on Tuesday, they are going to get CRUSHED big time. And then UNI comes to TH to redeem their loss to ISU the 1st game of the year, that one is gonna be hideous.

ISU is 4-16 (really 3 since one win was vs. a D-III school (barely)) with 11 games left, there is a VERY REAL chance that we're looking at a 27 loss season. Has ANY ISU team ever lost 27 games?? My God, we're witnessing abysmal history here.

On positive note ...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................Oh wait there wasnt anything positive about htis game . At least it was only Fox Sports Midwest ...............

It looks like Walter Mark's last year '37-38 squad might come close @ 1-17 .

Ron Greene's '88-89 "Dark Ages" conclusion squad was 4-24 and COMPETITIVE with this year's record.

FYI, the next year's ISU Media Guide under TATES LOCKE was titled, "The Road Back." Here's the roster:

Eddie Bird 6'5" F Jr.
Mike Boles 6'6" F So.
Dewayne Brown 6'2" G Jr.
J.R. Burrage 6'5" F Fr.
Ron Cheatham 6'3" G Sr.
Luke Gross 6'8" C So.
Townsend Harris 6'7" F So.
Travis Inman 6'2" G So.
Jeff Lauritzen 6'2" G Jr.
Darren Liles 6'7" C Jr.
Kenny Rowan 6'4" F Fr.
Steve Ruckman 6'0" G Fr.
Mike Smith 6'1" G Sr.
Greg Thomas 5'11" G Fr.
Tommy Thornton 6'0" G Fr.
Rob Vickers 5'9" G Jr.

See any similarities with the 2009 squad?

Sooooooooooooooo............ Are only two wins are against two out of the 3 best teams in the conference..... Hmmmmmmm? I'm confused.

The ISU women are on a serious roll. They have many reasons to be struggling this year, but they refuse to. I'm very excited about ISU women's basketball for the next four years. OMG, Did I say that out loud?

One positive, and I'm serious about this one, at least we didn't have to listen to Charlie Spoonhour and his mindless drivel for 2 hours. I started to hate him when he did the Bradley game in 2000 that clinched the regular season MVC title, and he spoke so much about Bradley that you'd have thought they were completing a perfect season, not that we were clinching a championship. He has never even acknowledged we exist. And since we didn't give his son our head coaching job, he really disses us at every turn!!!

I really thought Bob Harstad did a good job. He wasn't obviously biased toward either team, and he added some insightful comments.

Now that's a new low - the only positive I can come up with is the color commentator. Oh how far down can we go???????????:censored:

Richard - Why shoot 3's - His shooting % wouldn't be too bad without the 3's;
coaching staff must really believe in his future, good rebounder, not very good yet at creating off the dirbble but he sure likes to try

Martin - Games he gets to play Richard's minutes, has some of the best stats for time played at his postion, like seeing someone out there enjoying the game. We need to tap his talent better.

Tunnel - Under utilized down low, maybe he is hurt, sick, or something. How many times has he had our first several points and then we rarely get him the ball again.

Printy - has a great shot but isn't shooting to well, can we set some picks to create a little better look at the basket for him? We seem to have a hard time playing a style of ball that matches our players strength. Square pegs are really hard to fit into round holes. Not directed at JP...we don't seem to be able to make adjustments to our or other teams talent. Printy really picked up the D and looks to be an asset for the future. I really think a lot of other teams would be creating opportunity for open looks.

Harry - Just not a point. Pesses and tries to do too much...great energy, desire, may be hurt worse than we know, seems to play better when Cutter is in. He defenitely picks up the entire team but no man is an island either. I think he would deliver much more at the 2 spot.

Reed - Not a point either, good shooter and might benefit from some picks or set plays to get him better looks, please foul more (be more aggressive) seems like he could produce even more if he would be more aggressive, also seems to play better with Cutter in.

Cutter - our only real point and for all his bad press has best assist to turnover ratio at point. I looked back over each of the game stats & only game he played significant minutes was against Lamar. Pretty good contribution...Great energy & love hearing him talk on D when we sit close to the floor. He must be hurt.

Crawford - he can look so good at moments, need more moments and more strength,

Surely our goal is to win the conference tourny and we should do what it takes to do it!

That is the most optimistic post I've ever read. You should get an award. I don't know how you conjure up thoughts like that after another dismal performance, but more power to 'ya...:meditate:

maybe we need more optimism...faith is said to be able to move mountains...all we need to do is motivate young men to believe again...

Wow that's deep buddy! Like Indy Tree said more power to you! I am thee of little faith in the Trees.

I am sorry but Tyler Cutter is not cutting it. I think it is great that you want to turn a negative into a positive. But can you honestly tell me that you think this team has a shot in hell to win another game? let alone win in the tourney? You have got to be kidding me. We have not played a game all year where I have gone man what a well played game we really deserved that one.

In past post I have heard you say you were an athlete. What athlete ever plays a game they don't think they can find a way to win?

There is always a better way, the coaches & players need a find that way. They are good enough athletes. Beating NI & ILS is proof the season isn't over as long as they don't quit and believe in what they can do.

I don't understand any coach or fan that projects doubt and negative expections onto their team or players.

Even if we didn't have the best talent, isn't that why college basketball is so enjoyable to watch. The underdog finds the majic of team and wins. Everyone loves that story.

Look at our talent compared to Evansville, why did they beat us twice?

As for singling out of any given player, then you just suspect one's motive. You have to see a diamond in the rough - for example Diebler from Ohio State. Compare his freshman stats to this years. OSU saw the potential his freshman year and cultured it.

I wish I had your optimism my friend, I really do. Between the coaching, execution, and players on the floor I just don't see anyway this team is able to turn this thing around. Again I could be wrong, but I am 90% sure I am right. Answer this for me: Besides the fact that sometimes teams like this might turn their season around and make a late tourney run in the movies or something, what about this team makes you think that they will be able to turn it around?

I am willing to go out on a limb and say this team will win no more than 2 games the rest of the season. I am just being nice, I was half way tempted to say they might not win another game. Look saying this does not make me any less of a fan. It's like being a Cubs fan (unless you are one you don't understand what it's like to cheer for a looser). I support Indiana State 100%, I want to see them win. Their are just a lot of things in place right now that I am not happy with (coaching - current recruits) that make me feel the way I do. If that is not the way you feel about the current situation then we disagree and so be it.

You may be right on the out come but I am guessing that a coach(s) and players read our little comments. If they read them, then it is possible for it to make an impact.

I agree they will need to defy the odds, but it's possible. It's opportunity, lemonade from lemons and maybe your comments can be one of the ingrediants. Just a thought...

Ok here is a thought. Is them reading my post your suggestion for what will allow them to rise from the dead to win games? I just want to know what makes you so optimistic that they can turn this around? What are you seeing from this team that I am not seeing? I am talking strictly what you see on the floor. Not what happens in the movies, not what people read on message boards for bulletin board material, not what God want's to happen. If you had to plead a case that this team was going to make a run deep into the MVC tourney, how would they get that done?

My case is it aint happening! Their is NOTHING that tells me they will make a run let alone win a game. Here you go boys post this on your bulletin board in the locker room. Morgan from sycamorehoops.com thinks you all are burnt toast!

Morgan,

You are obviously a true fan and that is why you share your opinion. Yeah, you look at it differently than some of us and that's ok.

I understand where you are coming from when you say that you don't see anything on the floor that would suggest a "turnaround" is in the near future. Do you suggest that there is something off the floor that is causing us to struggle or do you simply think we don't have the talent?

I feel as though we have quite a bit of talent. However, we are missing key guys in key roles. I.E. Point Guard, Vocal Team Leader, Offensive Post Player, etc......... I also think that we have upperclassmen that are under-performing as a result of our continued struggles.

Thanks for being understanding. My hope is that Latham is as good as everyone seems to think he is. I think he could help the program quite a bit. Many people on here are impressed or see room for growth with (Cutter, Richard, Printy) I don't want to necessarily throw them under the bus, but I just don't see what many of you see in these players.

My starting line-up next year, assuming no 1 red shirts or get's hurt or get's cut or transfers. Bla bla bla you get the point.

PG. Jake Odum
SG. Latham
SF. Harry Marshall
PF. Carl Richard
C. Isiah Martin

Backups
PG. Reed
SG. Lucas Eitel
SF. RJ Mahurin
PF. Barlow/Koang
C. Josh Crawfod

Backups to the Backups
PG. Cutter
SG. Printy
SF. Carter/ Logan Eitel
PF. Barlow/Koang
C. Leitnaker

This should give you a good estimation of what I think of our current team. A lot of this could be left for debate. I think we have player comming in next season that are better than current players on the team.

For example;
Odum is better than Cutter and Reed
Latham is better than Printy Cutter Reed
Lucas Eitel is better than Printy and Carter
RJ is better than Carter and Printy

I understand many of you like Printy - I have nothing against him or you as fans. I just have not seen him shoot the ball well enough as a SG to feel comfroatable with him as player. He shows very little emotion, just not my type of player.
