It is fascinating to me how misaligned lower level football is compared to P5 ball and how the game is played. Like what, maybe 3 balls were thrown downfield in the half between both schools? It isn't like they're not playing the vertical styles in high school, either.

Those Ball State cut blocks on passing downs do not work but glad they keep trying them. Watching 2 guys just laying on the ground as our entire line rushes the QB is funny as hell to watch. Taking their sweet ass time getting up, too.

This is so frustrating. If we had any kind of offense at all we'd easily win. As I was saying in page 1, I had a feeling Ball State wasn't very good, but our lack of offense kills us. The missed FG's probably buried us. Ball State wouldn't win 3 games in the MVFC.

A few questions:

1) Why do we keep doing a directional punt out of bounds? There are not working at all, and they look purposeful.

2) What is the record for most consecutive quarters without an offensive touchdown?

That was an awful punt. Man, we just aren't good.

I will say the defense does seem to go max effort and that is probably the lone bright spot.

Gee, look what happens when you try to go vertical.

Still don't understand why we also don't implement slants, either.

This is 2009 ISU football all over again. Defense for the most part plays well, but the offense is so pathetic that we can't keep them off the field.

Looks like we're safe.

#1 -- because they're TRYING to re-define insanity...

#2 -- not sure if it's even a school record I count 17 quarters (5 Sept 2009 vs. Louisville; 9:44 mark, 1st quarter) when Chris Stutzriem scored on a 3-yd run) (3 Oct 2009 vs. N. Iowa; 4:06 mark 3rd quarter on a Rod Hardy 1-yd run)

#2a -- 1950 season... Trees were 1-7-1 under the 'guidance' of George Ashworth... Trees were shutout in 7 of the 9 games, incl. the last 4 of the season, 0-47, 0-33, 0-20, 0-32) Were outscored 232-13 on the season

I was saying this team reminded me of 2009. That team was shut out 4 times and only scored 7 points in two other games.

I was just checking scores and EIU is leading Illinois State 7-0 late in the second quarter. Looks like their defense might actually be pretty good.
