Totally clean... I mean, that definitely isn't Jake's cheek shape shifted by Weem's forearm or anything.

How can they complain about the refs?? The fouls in the second half were like 14-7, I would say they were trying to "homer" us at home. I'm just happy we won the game, because if we didn't I was still gonna rush the court just to get that one ref!

Your fouls were worse than ours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your fouls count as twice the amount and the last one 3 times...we should complain to the MVC...

If anyone is complaining, we should be complaining about 15-7 on fouls or whatever it was. It was ridiculous to watch. I am still just sooo happy we won!! :)

I see they spelled "there" wrong.

Are we supposed to lose on purpose?

" Well you're about to get your wish. Thank you for being patient, though. IT IS INDIANA STATE'S FAULT FOR THE VALLEY BEING A ONE BID LEAGUE. Thank you so much for playing worse than my 4th grade Pizza Hut league team against Wyoming, Ball State, and Eastern Kentucky. Those losses make the Valley look just absolutely terrific right now. You pull off back-to-back miracles, with the assistance of some country-fried referees, against two top-4 teams in the Valley, AT HOME, and suddenly Indiana State acts like Larry Bird just waddled back to Terre Haute and pulled on powder-blue short shorts. Oh, and thanks so much for RUSHING THE COURT against an unranked team at home. That really made the league look professional. Yes, Indiana State, thanks again for proving that you have what it takes to lead this league back to glory. No wonder the Valley is "America's Renaissance Conference." It's just such a shame that none of the NCAA games will be played in Terre Haute, but fortunately for you, I don't think any of the bottom-of-the-barrel trash you lost to in the non-conference will make the CIT, much less the NCAA's, so maybe you have a shot to make a run after all"
From BluejayBear on MVCFans....

Clearly Indiana state should throw games so the big programs can be successful because according to them thats the only time things are good for the Valley...

and I thought that there were some stupid people on the I-AA football websites...

when it came to Indiana State.....I really think that people get so used to ISU being down in football and men's basketball, they really don't like it when the Sycamores turn things around......

No more patsies to beat up on.....they don't like that.....maybe the MVC would be more than a one-team league in the NCAAs if more than just one team would actually make a run in the NCAA tournament.....Northern Iowa did the league proud last year.....but you need more than just one team to do that.....

Tom, I was thinking these exact same thoughts, people are jealous now that ISU has risen back to a competitive level in the MVC. It's like you say, they were used to ISU being at the bottom in FB & BB for the past decade+ and now that we're beating up on the "upper tier" teams they hate it. They just can't take it.

Imagine if it were Evansville instead of ISU, or even worse, if both Evansville AND Indiana State were in the top 4 of the standings? Imagine what the CU, WSU, MSU and SIU fans would say then? Good lord would they freak out!

You do know how terrible we've been in basketball lately, right??

Then why have you been so cocky?? I'm pretty sure you were the guy before yesterdays game saying how this is the biggest game for us in ten years. Now, after we beat you (you can say at home, but the refs tried to bail you guys out every time it got close) you have the excuse that you guys have been down in basketball. Yessss, you are the same team that has not played in the NCAA tournament since '99 (12 years).

Ya..."lately" you've gone ON THE ROAD and beat UNI, Creighton & Wichita State, the perennial cream of the MVC. Our students were aware of this, thus their excitement at "the buck stops here" game performance by the Sycamores.

Curious, what would the Mo Zoo St fans have done given a similar situation?:sycamores:

Question regarding some comments earlier in this thread. This is definitely not an attempt to flame, though I expect some backlash.

Earlier, a couple of posters mentioned how fans don't want to give the other team credit when their team outplays them. Another poster mentioned Sycamores did not play up to their usual standards.

So, I am wondering - did the Bears have anything to do with them not playing to that standard? Or, do the Bears not get credited with causing some of the turnovers, missed shots, fouls, etc. with their play?

And, as far as outplayed - Indiana State won by one by making a free throw with 0.6 seconds left. If winning the game means one team out played the other -- okay, I guess. I think it is more a case of a hard fought game between 2 good teams, Ricks misses a layup that would likely have ended the game, and Kelly comes down and converts. I did not think Indiana State outplayed the Bears - I thought the Sycamore made a play at the end, and the Bear did not. One play.

The last comment I will make - as far as complaining about the foul count - I mean, isn't that as silly as Bear fans claiming Weems did not foul at the end? I mean, if a player from either team made contact deemed illegal, or gaining an unfair advantage, and the ref calls it - fouls by team A don't necessarily mean there will be an equal number of infractions by team B. Just like fouling with 0.6 seconds left doesn't mean the ref won't call it.

Anyway, it was a good game, both teams still have a lot to play for, and both fan bases should be thankful we are in the postition we are in, rather than Bradley and the other ISU.

Above is what I'll focus on in your post.

It was a great game.

I think both teams have a shot at either the reg season championship, the tourney championship, or both.

Super thankful that ISU is a focus in the MVC right now, and I know that MSU has had it's share of poor seasons in the past, it's awesome that both fan bases have something to root for.

Lastly, MSU looked and was really tough last night, if last night's game had been in MO, not so sure the Sycs would have come out on top.

GO SYCAMORES!
