Gotcha -- I know sprint football is starting to grow, esp. in the Midwest... Not knowing your starting point, are you saying the P'Roys provide a more exciting product than than the Trees?
To me......that's exactly what i'm saying. They're more exciting to watch to me. Its not for everyone I'd guess, just speaking for myself.
I went to 3 games this past season. They play fairly fast, have pretty explosive playmakers on offense, have a QB who can pitch the thing around, have some dudes on defense who'll knock the snot out of someone. Looking forward to year 3 next year and seeing if they can win a 2nd title.

Question: 50 states in the U.S. and most have a state university with just the state name and then one with state name and "State" (i.e. Indiana/Indiana State, Montana/Montana State, etc.). There are a few that don't have a "State" (i.e. Hawaii, Alaska, Rhode Island).

With that in mind, are there any of these state universities that do not sponsor Football at any level? Again, with the state name----not Ball State or Wichita St. type schools.

Most of the Cal State system does not have football. Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, etc. Including these?

Some States have directional State Universities -- Kentucky, Connecticut, etc. Including these?

Or simply STATE State only?

This may be beneficial:

Even has a column that shows schools that had football at one time.

Thank you. Was just interested as it would definitely not be the norm to shutter football as a D1 "State" university.

Private schools that dropped football= 43
Public schools that dropped football= 16

List of the 16 public schools that dropped football:
CSU Fullerton
CSU Northridge
College of Charleston
Long Beach St
Maryland Eastern Shore
UW Milwaukee
UN Omaha
TX A&M Corpus Christi
UC Riverside
UC San Diego
UC Santa Barbara
UIC
UMASS Lowell
Vermont
Wichita State
**Without looking up the other 14 schools I know that at a minimum UN Omaha and UMass Lowell have never had football at the D1 level.

In the CSU system the following schools have football at the D1 (FBS or FCS) level:
San Diego St (Mountain West)
Fresno St (Mountain West)
San Jose St (Mountain West)
Sacramento St (Big Sky)

All D1 public schools have football in Kentucky, except for Northern Kentucky:
Kentucky
Louisville
Western KY
Eastern KY
Murray St
Morehead St (Pioneer League)

All D1 public schools in Connecticut also have football:
UCONN
Central Connecticut State

What's your basis for this hypothesis?

Pretty sure, there's not a clause in 'State" university charters to sponsor football, Div I or otherwise

Well, he is a reporter and Schertz's named has been tied to that opening all over the place. Seems like a reasonable question and perhaps Hunter was hoping to give coach a chance to squash those rumors.......and unfortunately that didn't really happen.

Disagree… He couldn’t wait to shoot that shot. It was on his I’m a newspaper guy bingo card.

Of all the things you could talk about with this team - that’s his question. That’s weak. Not to mention his name has been floated for two weeks now. And floated by mostly fans like us creating speculation and wish lists… Nothing else. He’s had at minimum two chances on the weekly MVC call to ask it - but he couldn’t wait to ask that tonight. Good for him.

Furthermore, if you’re going to ask that sort of a question you shouldn’t need a follow-up tweet to provide clarity. You should get his words right the first time.

It's fine you don't like him asking it, but I at least can understand a journalist asking it. I would not have asked that myself, but to each their own. What i am more concerned about is that coach didnt squash it like i was hoping. I really wanted to hear "this is my team, I love Indiana State and I am here to build a program for the future".....but I guess that's my diehard Sycamore blood pouring out and not realistic.

I agree 100% with this. His first tweet gave me what i was hoping to hear, He had no interest in the job.....only to completely back track on that.....it was frustrating.

Fair enough. I’m just exhausted by ridiculous speculation and assertions being made from people who know nothing of InState or JS.
And sometimes even our own fans.

Totally! I am desperately trying to block out what empending doom may lie ahead and enjoying the hell out of this season. I am here for all of it! Coach has been an amazing ambassador for my alma mater and I am so grateful for what he's building.

Just spitballing here, but if I was hypothetically in the middle of salary/contract negotiations, "I'm 100% committed to my current job and there's a 0% chance I'd ever leave" probably isn't what I'd put out there.
