They should step up. Better travel conditions than The Valley as well. They also have the fan base to support that move as well.
The travel would be considerably worse for them in football, but they could still play SDSU every year if they wanted to. Usually FBS teams don't travel to FCS teams though, but I sort of think that their fan base would demand to keep that rivalry going. With that said, if SDSU continues to be dominant, especially in the absence of NDSU, it probably wouldn't be long before the MWC picks them up too. The MWC is going to need quality football to stay relevant.

They'd remain in the Summit League for everything else, so I think it would be a good move for them. With the extra money they'll get from TV they'll have more than enough money to travel all over the western half of the US. That's one program where they've been so dominant that their fan base has gotten bored with it. Whether they'll admit it or not, no one wants to watch a bloodbath every Saturday.

Teams close yo their state? Colorado, Utah, Nevada? Figured it would be closer than Indiana and Illinois for example.

Their closest opponent (Wyoming) is a 12 hr drive away, and Terre Haute for example is 13.5 hrs and we're their farthest opponent in the MVFC besides SIU, YSU, and Murray St. NDSU is right on the border with Minnesota. They're more Midwestern than Western.

Alright.

It's kind of like your home state of Texas lol. Where El Paso is closer to San Diego than Beaumont; or Texarkana which is closer to Chicago than it is to El Paso. I know, I know, I'm a geography nerd. I can get to about any major city in the US, Canada, and Mexico without a road map.

Understand. But, NDSU does need to move up.

Do their fans agree? Every time I saw it brought up on Bisonville, the majority didn't seem to think they had the resources to do so.

You guys love spending other people's money.

Looks like their fans are on board.

Only a few fans chimed in over on Bisonville. Several do seem to think it's happening only if they can be a FB only member. Some of them only want to go if they can take SDSU, Montana and Montana State. Um, interesting. That said, they already needed a new stadium per their fans and the Fargo Dome expansion got turned down like a year ago. They better have some deep pocketed alums on the line to front them several years until they get footing.

Good luck to them.

it's a boondoggle. The mighty green and yellow buffaloes need to accept that if they are NOT in the $EC and the Bloated 18, than it DOESN'T matter what other "FBS" they are in, give those two time and the 12-team playoff will consist of 5 $EC teams, 5 Bloated 18 teams, the Univ Hypocrites of North Crook and a "next best Power 5 as determined by $EC, Bloated 18 and Univ H of N.C."

If NDSU does indeed move on then the MVFC will be down to 9 members.

Illinois State
Indiana State
Murray State
North Dakota
Northern Iowa
South Dakota
South Dakota State
Southern Illinois
Youngstown State

I'm sure if NDSU moves on then SDSU will be looking to move to FBS the first chance they get too. There's also the possibility of Illinois State eventually leaving too. If we ever get down to 7 or 8 members I'm not sure who the conference could even realistically add at that point. The private schools certainly won't be throwing the public schools a bone and letting them into the MVC for basketball. Maybe best case scenario is that the WAC collapses and the Summit takes Utah Tech and Southern Utah, which in turn would get them into the MVFC.

That makes ZERO sense for NIU. I do not know how some of these people keep their jobs.

Not the first time an incredibly stupid idea took hold and "became a thing"

Any Husky alumnus should be OUTRAGED and return the FIRST fundraising plea upon its arrival

It makes total sense for Northern Illinois and Hawaii to be football conference opponents.

Do you think it's quicker to fly west or east from DeKalb to Hawaii?

Aaah, now I get it.

So do they fly the equipment semis over or do they barge over? Or do the players just dress in full gear when they travel? Has to be intimidating for the lei girls when all those brutes come rumbling off the plane in full kit.
