I don't know the TV or $ numbers, but I do know that Boise State gets more TV distribution $ than everyone else in the Mountain West.How many TV eyes does Boise State pull? I've met some "passionate" boise fans but have met more San Diego State grads.
Pac-12 may be better as the Pac-10; though losing a majority of the LA market will hurt
Reading posts on message boards and social media it seems as if every Colorado fan is thrilled with the move. For those that are unaware they were part of the "Big 8", and left the Big 12 about 10 years ago.
Potential Realignment chain reaction from Colorado move:
Arizona --> Big 12
I'm not sure ASU and Utah bring enough value for the Big 12 (market duplication). I've heard that the ESPN pro-rata clause is for up to 16 schools, but the Fox pro-rata is only for up to 14 schools. Arizona would be the 14th.
San Diego State and SMU --> Pac 12
Gets Pac 12 up to 10 again. They may also have interest in Rice (Houston market) and Tulane.
MWC remains at 10.
Currently at 11 full members with Hawaii as a football affiliate. Not sure UTEP would bring enough value for MWC to want to replace SDSU.
Georgia State --> AAC
Gets them back to 14 with the Atlanta market. North Texas is in Denton and keeps them in the DFW region even if they lose SMU.
Middle Tennessee --> Sun Belt
Replaces GA State and gets them back into the Nashville region.
Western Kentucky --> MAC
WKU makes a push to get into the MAC and signs their GOR. They were reluctant to a year or so ago, but that changes with MTSU's exit.
CUSA adds interested FCS school(s).
I actually agree with this argument. The same one could be made for UIC who can't even draw 1000 butts in seats in a city of nearly 3 million (not including the suburbs) for a MBB game. The problem is that most leagues and university presidents in particular tend to value markets and academics over athletic prestige in most cases. These aren't necessarily the adds I'd personally make, they are just what I'm predicting these leagues will make.does anyone watch Ga State, MTSU and WKU football? I doubt anyone in ATL even knows GSU is IN atlanta

The moves I would personally make are as follows (athletic moves):
Big 12: Arizona
Pac 12: San Diego State, Boise State, Fresno State, Gonzaga
MWC: UTEP and New Mexico State
WCC: Seattle and Grand Canyon
I could see moving from a lower g5 conference because you are trying not to be the one standing without a chair when the music stops. being in the AAC might be better than the Sun Belt (just an example of 2 conferences not an opinion on it being better)Moving because of football unless you're able to get into SEC/Big10/ACC/Big12 is essentially a waste. Those are the only 4 conferences that put people into the playoff since they have created a system that keeps others out. Hell, look what they've done to the Pac12 and they were a P5 conference just a decade ago.
So to move into a bigger conference just means you're spending more so you had better get into a conference with a media rights deal that offsets this or you're now back to subsidizing more on the backs of your school without a payday. Also, in most cases you're destroying your traditional rivalries which will come home to roost.
I also stand by my analysis that media rights deals are going to drop in the coming decades due to media consumption. Glad State is not involved in this bullshit.

It might stop for one of the G5 conferences. The Pac 12 will be fine until the entire g5 disappearThat "music" is stopping -- if the latest (wild) rumor is true (Clemson & Fla St) joining the B1G... what's left of the ACC?
AAC, SunBelt, MAC, Pac-12 -- None will send a team to a '2-conference' playoff ($EC, B1G)
The Big 12 will easily be the distant #3 conference at that point. The ACC has the GOR issue that FSU and Clemson have to deal with, but both schools have been vocally unhappy with their conference distributions recently.That "music" is stopping -- if the latest (wild) rumor is true (Clemson & Fla St) joining the B1G... what's left of the ACC?

They're going to miss U$C and UCLA -- good years or not, those programs draw EYES
Lets be honest. They WERE the conference. Everyone else was second fiddle and losing them is massive. The Big 12 is ripe to pick the bones and there are only a few legit football schools left that are consistently good. I also think Stanford will eventually jump to the Big 10 when Notre Dame ultimately does because it makes sense with their academic profile and Northwestern already there.
They will sputter along and become a G5 conference with the way the SEC/Big10 are operating. It wouldn't surprise me if both ended up as their own "leagues" when it comes to football with like 4 5-6 team divisions -- North/South/East/West. It's so weird that a parallel system that runs outside of NCAA control has been able to do this when you sit and think about it.
