Not sure I beleive this. After all the reporting nationwide for weeks he was going to SLU, the team was "blindsided" when he said he was leaving? I mean, if he flat out said to the team in black and white he's not leaving no matter what, then yeah he lied and they can feel blindsided. But knowing the whole time he's leaving why would he risk alienating the entire team--especially since presumably he wants to take some of them with him?

As the hours go by this whole thing is getting less and less relevant and will fizzle out, Angie/Deb will promote Graves or hire someone else, the portal will be busy with incoming and outgoing Sycamores, and that'll be that.
I suppose you spoke to an assistant coach yesterday?

Oh. I believe it. He did the same things with donors, supporters and staff. I have now heard several instances of people who had close ties and who served the players and coaches in some fashion talk about how they were blindsided. I know @SycamoreBlue3209 and he has been pretty damn accurate with information he has shared over the years. Look, bottom line is he has the right to take any job he wants, have no problem with that. I have a problem with lying and being deceitful. But you know what, the joke may be on him. His actions galvanized this fan and donor base to rally and prove that we can raise funds to support this program at a level we didn't know possible. We need take that and move forward proactively instead of reactively.

Nope...just people I've trusted for decades on all things ISU that told me he was leaving even before Arch Madness. The entire national basketball media reported he was gone weeks ago. An MOU with SLU was in place. And players and coaches were "blindsided" when he said he was leaving? Yes he is either not only a liar but a very bad one, or the assistant coach/players are very, very naive. Or both. It just doesn't make sense as the one group you wouldn't want to upset and lie to would be a core 5 that can lead you to an A10 Championship next year that already knows (and have mastered) your complicated offensive system.
.
Or a final possibility is some on here are very upset and want to slander Schertz as much as they can as he leaves (I couldn't really care less--I'm just interested in the truth).

Okay you got it right! Congratulations! You were both right and not naive! The rest of us were fooled and are upset by that.

Both are true… The entire national media reported on something yet the coach in private conversations and to the media and on his own Twitter went to great lengths to try and explain that he hadn’t decided yet. If you can’t understand why people would be upset then I can’t help you. No one here wants to slander him - he did that to himself.

But honestly - take your trophy! You got this one right, a well deserved honor. Thank your long time sources while you’re at it - they nailed it.

Thanks. I'll put on my mantle next to my "2023 ISU President's Scholars Golf Outing Champion" trophy.

The layers to this is amazing. I have absolutely no idea what to think anymore with all this stuff coming out
What Hooper and many others fail to understand is two stories can be true: his sources were correct that a decision was made ~around Arch Madness AND JS was telling people inside the program (Admin., coaches, & players) a different tune. It’s not hard to understand…some people just want to feel like they were right or won something (putt putt trophy).

Wild that other people think it’s crazy that die-hard fans are mad about their coach leaving. Some of these people need to either look in the mirror (can only imagine meltdowns they’ve had about things) or just let people be

hard to do, but time to move on... is there any hope of salvaging any of the incoming recruits? If so let the speculation run wild. Wondering how many of the recruits had Graves as their primary or initial contact?

I am surprised no one has jumped in the portal yet. I know Semmler said the players will meet with Graves on Tuesday.

NCAA isn’t open on the weekend.

There is a process they have to follow. They have to submit paperwork to our compliance office and then they submit it to the NCAA. My guess is we'll see things happen early next week but hopefully later next week because that means they at least spoke with Graves and considered whatever he told them.

Side note but I hope some of you guys are keeping notes and receipts on how several Terre Haute folks are covering or spinning things.

Well Coach Furr was our lead recruiter. It is rumored he was going to SLU but it sounds like he may have had his chair pulled out from under him.

If he is retained in any capacity and if the relationships were formed with him, it's possible.

If Graves indicates he does not want to be considered for the head coach, then it’s likely he will follow Shertz to SLU. So, is it a good idea for him to meet with the players Tuesday?
