Does anyone thing a smaller arena could potentially hurt recruiting? Let's say you have a recruit come to campus for an official visit, and he's taken to Hulman Center to check out the facilities. Even though we never fill the place up, doesn't it sound better than the arena can hold "10,000+ screaming fans" versus a smaller amount? I suppose some recruits come to see games anyway so they see it for themselves, but walking into a big arena I would think just feels more big-time. This is a small benefit, if at all, but I would think it has some value to someone.

I think a more state-of-the-art (or at the very least "modern") 7,500 seat arena would be more appealing visually than the 1970's 10,000 seat arena we have now.

Also, recruits watch our games on ESPN3 or on tv when possible.....they see the empty seats.

How do you explain Bradley's 5,900 vs our 3,600?

If I lived in Peoria, I would follow a bad team too. Instead I live in Hendricks county, buy season tickets and Varsity Club membership. Good team or bad team, it's Indiana State and that's all I need!

(((I understand there is a significant difference in both the alumni bases and program levels. Just go with me for a second.))) Boston College, Duke, Notre, Dame, VA Tech, UCONN are all under 10,200. Granted, some of these teams play in, "neutral," home-away-from-home-games from time to time, but a 40-50% full arena at 10K is not as rocking as a 2/3 full 7,500 seat arena.

(apologies if the math is off there as well)

There's a rub-off psychology when fans are seated closer together, a "guilt complex" of sort if you don't "go with the flow." At HC, nobody really gives a shit if someone's NOT standing & cheering because of the empty seat "social distance." Everyone is an "island"...

Good point. There's always one person sitting down at a concert and they just look stupid. Same applies to any live event...the crowd feeds off one another.

I suppose they can keep the seating configuration relatively unchanged, but take out seats at the bottom of the upper-concourse to add luxury boxes and/or standing-room only space. That would keep them from having to spend significant dollars to reconfigure the entire arena, while still reducing seating to a more reasonable level and adding a new updated element.

Good ole boy network hard at work, eh?

Maybe the FBI can take a peek here when they finish up at the VCSC?

I saw where the "Aquatic Center" is one of the areas the SBOA is looking at. Gee, WWT that a $9.8m project ($10m would've required REFERENDUM APPROVAL of the project by Vigo County voters ) would be suspect, especially after 1st Bank provided a "free" $200,000 digital scoreboard and the City of TH provided a 99 yr. lease of the property for $1/yr. Wonder what the alternative "rental/development value" of that property would be had the City SOLD IT? Think that might've driven up the costs any? It's not like the City of TH needs the money or anything.:hypnotized:

I do, but the ushers look at me funny.

It is Judith Anderson the old lady running for county commissioner (I think), not the former mayor Judy Anderson.

Sounds right. Here's a 2006 resume of the "Judy Anderson" who's lists 20+ yrs. of school bus driving AND catering on her resume. She's a METHODIST. The other Anderson is the ex-TH Mayor and belongs to St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She was def. by Kevin Burke after serving 2000-2004. Both Anderson's NETWORKED off of each other's POLITICAL IDENTITY while climbing to TH prominence at virtually the same time period.57296e0ee0e65.image.jpg So Terre Hautish...:paperbag:

This article says she's a REALTOR:

Here is the Obit of ex-Mayor Judy Anderson's husband (Brent), who died in a 2013 car accident in Putnam County. He was a coach & teacher. SSOM likely had him while attending Sarah Scott M.S.

Looks like ISU's Pres. Bradley has his "thinking cap" on...too bad that he's surrounded by TH political machine "nuts & bolts," many which have shown to be rusted & corroded and who are seeking to "neutralize" his input.

***Note the "school bus driver/caterer" taking orders from the CIB boyz?:sos:

I didn't attend Sarah Scott Fred, let us start with that.

A lot of intelligent and successful people in that room - not sure I would classify a single one of them as rusted & corroded. You spend so much time being negative along with the group of people who never thought this project would happen. I'm convinced many in this community didn't want it to happen so they could say "I told you so".

Talk about "being negative"...you've gotta helluva lot of room to talk.

So what are your thoughts about the the 1st CIB meeting dynamics, based on the above article? Give us some of that 30 yr.old Union Hospital Executive "insight" that you're renowned for here on Syc Pride.

I see that your "shadow" (Southgrad07) is alive & kicking....btw, I don't "normally" support him. lol

HA! Leave it to you to pay attention to who is giving "thanks" to posts around here. Knowing SouthGrad as I do he couldn't care less what you say... So good luck trying to poke him - probably isn't going to work.

I'm not a negative person at all so have no idea what that is supposed to mean?? At any rate, I wasn't in the CIB meeting so I will refrain from commenting on the "dynamics" of a meeting I know nothing about. Quite frankly, reading an article in the TribStar and watching a news clip online doesn't really give me much to work with - wouldn't be fair to say anything more than what I've already said.
