Back to Belmont as a team, this is supposed to be a down year for them. Will be interesting to see how we match up considering they've won 25+ games a year for awhile now.

Since we cant rely on shooting the way we did vs Ball State, Id like to see how we do on a avg shooting night. Do we make an effort to drive and get fouls? More post touches? How we react to how the game is called is what Im looking for.

Yeah, I was shocked at how few free throws we shot and I thought Jake got bailed out a couple times on the few he did get. That said, I thought we passed really well so if we can have some semblance of ball movement like we did against Ball State, maybe we can shoot better all year. The one thing that he me scratching my head were the traveling calls. There was one on Khristian that I just didn't see. There was also either a travel or foul call where the ref was making the call before the action happened. Thought I was watching Minority Report's precrime division in action.

I'd like to see Gant and Arop both go to the basket and force the ref to blow the whistle.

Rule changes will force players to play D the way they are supposed to -- move your feet and arms up.

We'd better do it and NOW.

Look's like the younger Turner is a tad above the ol' man. Printy avg. 6 PPG during yrs. 1-4 post-RS. The bottom line - he never IMPROVED his game.

Printy was a starter on an NCAA team. Why are we tearing him down? He was a productive player and as far as I know was a good representative of ISU.

Has Turner scored 6 points total at Belmont?

Sagarin has us about eight spots apart. Their strength of schedule is at 112 compared to our 236. I assume that is mainly because they play on the road against North Carolina and Kentucky and VCU at home.

I will be interested to see Belmont the second time after playing the likes of those three teams. How much will they grow over an eight week period?

Not sure what you are saying, but I believe the SOS is who we have played and not who we are going to play.

That is my interpretation as well.

I'd expect Belmont to be higher at SOS simply because they've had a second game. SOS is a tricky thing to digest because you can have wins against shitty teams but if those shitty teams have great schedules it helps out your cause. I believe it is 2/3 for opponents record and 1/3 for opponents opponents record.

The teams aren't "connected" yet, anyway. They really have no statistical meaning until the 3rd-4th week of the season.

I watched the entire Belmont Richmond game. I can tell you that we have a huge advantage if we are taking it to the basket and pounding it to our bigs on the inside. Richmond killed them on the interior. Belmont is a bunch of slow but fundamentally sound players. They shoot it from anywhere. If we guard the perimeter tough and don't get lazy we should be fine. The Richmond point guard was able to drive to the basket and get fouled, dish it off or score all game. Jake should put up some big stats. These guys cannot match our athleticism. Lets play smart and get it done!

Reading this makes me feel better. I know we have a great 3-4 guys that can get to the rim with no issue.

Jake, Manny, K. Smith, and Justin Gant are great at getting to the rim. We can guard the 3 pointer pretty good too.

results from the Belmont Richmond game..

FGM-A--3PM-A-- FTM-A-- OREB-- DREB --REB-- AST-- STL-- BLK-- TO-- PF-- PTS
23-56 -- 4-18-- 11-15 -- -13------ 22--- 35----- 14--- 6----- 4--- 16--- 22--- 61

Lots of turnovers and lots of Personal Fouls. I hope we capitalize on that. Richmond had 7 more made free throws than Belmont.
