Vorst definitely has a better grasp on running the offense. He just did a good job there.

Yeah he’s made a couple of the right reads and his guys have made the right cuts - they are over playing big time.

Part of the issue is that you’ve got a group of guys playing first realtime game together. Comparing this group to last years group is simply not fair - it’s just night and day it has little to do with JS vs Graves.

You also have to give FAU some credit they’ve played really well. Like, they have so you can’t discount that entirely.

Graves said something on a pod recently and it’s very notable.

Guys like Swope, Avila, Larry and Bledson could pass people open - meaning, they pass it to an area on the floor that got the cutting player in a position to make a high % shot.

This team has no one capable of passing anyone open. The cutting isn’t crisp enough. They haven’t played together enough to have that feel.

Those guys are elite passers of the basketball. Bledson literally probably the best passer that has played here in my lifetime - so again, comparing this team vs that team is just not a good idea.

Everything you are saying is true, it is just so hard to watch knowing what could have been this year. Money has destroyed any resemblance of the game I loved. 4 years ago, this team would have been one of the best teams in the country and now we have to watch them suffer through painful lessons, in hopes they can be decent by season's end. I hate it and there isn't a damn thing I can do.....thats what sucks.

Yep and it also took two years for both Avila and Bledson to settle into that passing role. A few minutes ago Vorst tried to do just that on a cutting JD but didn't put enough zip on it. Hopefully as he gets more PT, he'll develop into something there.

Just not a schematic fit. I think most of us said as much.

It's trying to ram a square peg into a round hole and that's probably not fair to him. He's much more a Lansing scheme guy.

Right similar to JS first year here he had to just take what he could get with a limited amount of time and resources to put together a roster - let alone a roster that fits what you wanna do.

At the end of the day blame NIL/NCAA/JS.

I think I may be most impressed with Alocen tonight. I didn't expect him to contribute this year but he's been hustling, cutting and giving good effort.
His shot looks atrocious right now, but he has the right instincts and hustle where I could see him really improving as the season goes on.
