My wife is a music teacher, my kids go to the school she teaches at (in IL there is a provision that if the school board accepts it they can attend if your parent teaches there). She complains about one student a lot. One day I got an email that my daughter was getting a detention for behavior issues and as I read the narrative I realized it was her mom that gave her the detention. only one of the 3 of us thought it was funny.

I found it funny. :)

Apparently being an International man of mystery was only reserved for Austin Powers.
:ROFLMAO: If I recall, when each of the squabbles broke, I recall favoring his side in the squabble; as an example - I recall him wanting faculty returning from their sabbaticals to ACTUALLY produce a paper (unk length) on their sabbatical - his point; it's NOT a paid vacation but a paid travel/study time - produce.

I'm sure there were other issues with the faculty...

I'm sure every Univ PRES has squabbles... hell, didn't that bunch in west lafayette have near annual, semester battles with their former president? the convicted drug dealer?

As to the public art... from when I graduated (1988) thru my most recent steps (~2017, 2018 - PreCOVID IIRC) the campus proper looks 1500% better. Did the public art add to it? There's no way it DETRACTED from it.

that areaTeacher shortage doesn't need to be in quotes. It's real and it's all over the country sponsoring agencies overseas. The money hasn't changed since I graduated in 2000. There aren't many people beating the doors down to get shat on from all directions. Mind you, this is one man, one opinion...but the days of annual 800-1000 kids walking through the door to get into education are over.

With this said, I'm still working on the PhD from here.
Have a B.S. from ISU & taught in ND, TX, FL & IN. The so-called "shortages" are in pockets of America with varying disciplines, given the demographics of the specific area. Most of this "shortagism" is being driven by the leftist oriented AFT.

The outrage is starting to wear off… People going back into everyday life. Bet nothing happens Thursday.

Announcement from the Queen! " The beatings will continue until the Moral improves!" that will be all. Debbie and her PR people are very good at providing excuses and false explanations then they know to shut-up cause it will all go away. Till somebody or some group with real Clout ( that is not a dig at you Meistro you got soldout by your fellow commissioners) I.E. the BOT, the GOV, Mayor, the Faculty Senate, or GOD goes all-in and fight together on the fight NOTHING will happen. Right now we are repeating the definition of insanity, repeating the same process expecting a different result. I wish i had a better idea or news, but this is the same cycle on every issue at ISU. As I said earlier the BOT have ZERO vested interest in, and doesn't care about Terre Haute. They are a rubber stamp for Debbie and till they stand up this is a moot point. I am going back to talking basketball on the other thread, the up-rise has been squashed by the queen.

Check your math... that "$3M from the County..." is not Vigo County funds but rather Vigo County is the spigot those Federal Tax Dollars (aka the NATION'S funds). I would have to spend DAYS researching the "why," but I'd think as ISU is a state institution (not a county institution) that the State Reps/Senators should run the process for allocating the federal dollars... dollars to doughnuts, the state pushed the dollars to each county and had them vett the requests

Okay... I think you know what I was getting at. I make enough math errors in my life I don't need anyone's help. Where the money comes from doesn't make my math wrong it makes my description of where the money comes from wrong. Gezzus. Who cares. The point is they got what they want and she will remain President and we will remain irrelevant.

Copy but words matter. Frankly, if I were an administrator at Ind State and I was 'forced' (aka required) to submit funding requests to the local county, I'd seriously have to ask WTF?? I'm a State entity, I deal with the STATE.

But yes, your other points are valid -- keep pressuring for change, it's the only way it's going to occur.

the only BoT members who LIVE in the Wabash Valley is John Pratt in Rockville - the rest, while chiefly alumni, (per state code) are 'distant members' Not sure who the student trustee is at the moment; I believe a new one was just appointed last week, first of the month

He was teaching a class a semester well into the 20-teens
His RateMyProfessors is full of 1/5s. Saw this in one of the comments - is this true?

"This professor was once the president at ISU, but was asked to resign. Before he was asked, he put in his contract that he would teach art 151 but have a salary of 500,000 a year."

I wonder if Krasean believes ISU should follow the model from west lafayette and enroll thousands of "students" from the People's Republic of China?

While Dr. Chiang's public bio states he immigrated to Hong Kong and then the U.S. -- it WOULD be interesting how many of his family members are trapped behind the Bamboo Curtain?

We actually went a similar route with Dr. Harper recruiting for the MBA program as he was traveling all over Europe and Asia for a couple years recruiting.

We also had the program where they had a program for the inner city Chicago thugs that was a disaster. that was in the late 90's when campus got rough with a couple shootings and violence for a few years till they discontinued. If i remember correctly they dropped the GPA requirement as a special circumstance for these students. don't remember a whole lot about it, but do remember it got sketchy.

So per Twitter I’m going into a meeting can’t pull it up. The BOT issued a canned statement basically just acknowledging public frustration… What a waste.
