President Curtis retiring effective June 30, 2024

WANTED: Passionate Sycamore Fanatics. That You?

Register NOW to join our community of die-hard Sycamore fans.

There is some really good ISU and Terre Haute press in that radio show. Sounds like he had a good time while here!

I will also say that there are more of my "non-ISU friends" starting to talk about ISU, read about ISU and even watch us on ESPN+. Between the buzz about the Baseball team over the summer - and this new exciting style of basketball that we are seeing, there is a lot of excitement about the university now! The "Sprit Shop" behind Pacesetters is always busy and has awesome ISU clothing... Rick's Garage is usually buzzing for away games.... it's a good time to be a Sycamore!

Again, unfathomable. They really need to tell her that her time with the university has concluded, they will pay her until her announced retirement date, and name a handful of interim people who will handle the daily tasks of the university.

Right. If that is the case, we've got a BoT filled with people that just lack acceptable business sense. How you don't put safeguards in place is just wild.

I think the Bot has many individuals just happy to get the obit line when they die. They didn't realize it could actually turn into a job.

Yep, was just talking to someone about this very thing. It's a vanity title to add to their CV. They come together from time to time, grab a bite together, make a few decisions and go back into their regularly scheduled programming.

I will say the fact their emails are not available on the State website reeks of zero accountability and transparency. That needs to change.

hence the BOT silence on this matter:
9. NON-DISPARAGEMENT. Dr. Curtis agrees she will not make any false statements
that are maliciously disparaging or defamatory regarding ISU, its educational programs, its services, or any of its trustees, directors, officers, faculty, staff, employees, or agents. This obligation includes refraining from any such statements of any kind (i.e., whether orally, electronically or via social media, Facebook, text messages, e-mail communications, blogs, tweets, or otherwise). Nothing in this paragraph or in this Agreement is intended to prohibit Dr. Curtis from engaging in activities referenced in the Statement of Protected Rights in Section 8. By like token, ISU agrees to instruct the individual members of its Board of Trustees not to make any false statements that are maliciously disparaging or defamatory regarding Dr. Curtis. This obligation includes refraining from any such statements of any kind (i.e., whether orally, electronically or via social media, Facebook, text messages, e-mail communications, blogs, tweets, or otherwise). Nothing in this paragraph or in this Agreement is intended to prohibit members ofISU's Board of Trustees from providing information in an investigation or legal proceeding. The parties further agree to cooperate in preparing any public communications or announcements relating to Dr. Curtis' retirement from ISU.

The real question is what can we as alumni do about all of this? Are the BOT accessible to any of us?? Do we have their office phone numbers to call and complain about how things are being handled? Govenor Holcomb has appointed all of these people. Is there someone in his office we can call to complain or make our voices heard? This is an institution funded by US the taxpayers. There has to be some accountability. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Not sure if you are on X or not but @meistro has been using his own platform as County Commissioner to make sure that local and state officials are aware of what is going on - he’s actively working to put pressure on them.

So what we can do is share on social media, like his posts, retweet his posts, send a letter to the editor in the Trib Star - post the letter on here Jason and others can blast it out, write letters to the Mayor, local and state officials and lastly most importantly LOOT! You should definitely loot local stores - that always works.

Personally, I took it one step further. I not only retweeted his post but I tagged Joe Biden! Took it to the top.

Disclaimer: in case anyone loots I wasn’t being serious. That part was a joke.

Why would he leave the state where he is from to go to a place he, I'm guessing, has no affiliation with and is in direct competition with a school he has affiliation with???

MoSt has named finalists. Exactly where are we in the process?
"Recruiting" applicants and reviewing the applications. No interviews until Spring.

I can't substantiate it but I heard that Clink knew on that very same date of December 15 that he would be pushed out... The timing is quite interesting.

Still think you've got to come up with "cause"? So what's it going to be?

- The Baseball regional theory?

- The fact that he was raising funds to get JS a raise and contract extension? I mean that happened in mid-October when he was extended through 2028 with a $65,000 annual bump.

- Or something else entirely? (Football theory)
Rumor from people I know in Terre Haute was he had his name out there looking for another job. When ISU found out about it, they confronted him about all his efforts to find another job, and he was asked to resign. Just a rumor though.

Here is the committee to bring on the new President. I feel so much better now that i see a representative from the Theater Department on the committee. Who need a representative from Sports with that!

Even if that's the case, that's not a reason to fire someone.

This was 100% a personal vendetta from Debster Downer and I've seen nothing to convince me otherwise.

would his contract have a clause related to that topic?

while it's not a good reason, it was fairly typical to ease out, release, fire a person; maybe not as much in higher ed but the corporate world - more than people believe or was at one time

i don't have his contract at my finger-tips
