Well it's no secret that God comes on this forum to get a barometer for what the rest of Sycamore Nation might be feeling - Todd has also been very vocal on this subject of "fans" on Twitter recently - so maybe he is being very general but I am not of that opinion.
One could also argue that the best worst thing that ever happened to this country was the internet. 15 years ago you didn't know a recruit had made a verbal until he had actually signed - thus a fan could never judge or be upset over a kid backing out and a kid could not go on the internet and make very positive remakes about his school of choice and then later change his mind and be judged for chaging his mind....
The group of fans on here took it very much in stride - I didn't see anyone on here who didn't wish him the best.
Same can be said for when RJ left - most people very thankful for his contributions here and hated to see him leave.
Todd has been vocal about what he thinks of the site on numerous occasions yet does exactly what you said. It's extremely hypocritical. Anyhow, you're spot on. There was a little on Twitter, but nowhere near the amount he'd experience the first time he missed a big shot if he went to play at Purdue, for example. That's just the name of the game and I don't think it bothers Bryant or any other top flight basketball player as much as the media makes it out to be. Sure, some do have fragile egos but those are the guys you don't want taking the shots in the first place. Bryant is not that kid IMO.
While our fan base is small, I wouldn't trade it for the world. What we lack in numbers we make up in knowledge, passion and genuine respect. Someone (hint: Bluethunder) made a very poignant comment to me when he told me about his visit to North Carolina and the Dean Dome. He mentioned how he looked up in the rafters and saw all of the retired numbers. Who really remembers or talks about James Worthy? Jerry Stackhouse? Vince Carter? To them, it's simply the "next man in" mentality and then once you're eligibility expires... hit the bricks because we've replaced you with 3 more McDonald's All-Americans. They're just another link in the chain.
Hell, John Sherman Williams gets talked about once a month on here and he has been gone for 30 years. We're small. We're different. We're not Indiana and we don't try to be... red is a HIDEOUS color. That is what I love about Indiana State and wouldn't trade it for the world.
